PIVOT hosts discuss child access to “erotic” AI bots

In the wake of Sam Altman’s announcement that Open AI isn’t the “morality police,” Kara Swisher and Scott Galloway discuss potential risks to minors. If Altman’s vision comes into effect minors will be able to access AI “companions” who will entice them with erotic suggests and images.

Swisher and Galloway are very clear that some content is not developmentally appropriate for younger viewers. They recount stories from their childhoods, describing content they wish they had not viewed when young. They also discuss content they wish they had managed to keep from their kids.

Galloway points out that the first time a 14-year old boy is rejected by a romantic interest, he’ll be online immediately endeavoring to console himself with an artificial erotic companion. This risks conditioning his brain to synthetic stimulation. And  risks keeping him from learning the skills that would allow him attract a real partner.
