I don’t want to sound like I’m comparing straight up heroin to porn: I’m a former heroin addict and PMO was harder to quit for me.

I used heroin for like 2 years and currently have 6 months clean. Obviously heroin had much more of a negative impact on my life and mental/physical health, but I’m talking purely from an addiction standpoint. We’re surrounded by artificial stimulation everywhere and everyday in our lives. It was a lot tougher to rewire my brain and daily activities from PMO because it’s so engrained into everyday life.

Sleeping near my phone, waking up near my phone, ads on TV, billboards, movies, music, feeling bored every once in a while, etc.

The cravings are everywhere. You can get away from drugs but in today’s society, I don’t think you can truly get away from the triggers of PMO. You can just maneuver around them for that moment and you have to constantly be aware and alert of what you’re feeding your mind on because you can slip up at ANY time.

I don’t want this post to sound like I’m comparing straight up heroin to porn. One of them is truly life devastating and results in thousands of deaths because of the vice grip it holds on us. They are both still very tough addictions to break, but it is very possible.

Idk, I just wanted to post this in case people are putting themselves down for being “mentally weak” and continual relapses. We’ve been doing this for like 10, 15, 20+ years. It doesn’t matter what the addiction is at that point, it’s a problem and should be taken seriously. I promise one day it’ll CLICK for you and if I can do it, you definitely can.
