Brain White Matter Expansion in Human Obesity and the Recovering Effect of Dieting (2007)

Comments: Food addiction leading to obesity causes several brain changes that mimic drug addiction. One change involves an increase in white matter (myelin) in the striatum (a portion of the reward circuitry). Dieting decreases the white matter, indicating that this change is reversible.
